Learn to resolve challenging shoulder pain cases using the state of the art techniques of Clinical Thai Bodywork (CTB), a revolutionary modality developed by your expert instructor, Chuck Duff. Chuck originated and taught the first CTB class in 2005. CTB integrates Travell & Simons trigger point therapy with traditional Thai techniques and other approaches, and is focused on restoring muscle health as well as quality and range of joint movement.
This course includes all of the material from our in-person course that is taught at our school in Evanston, IL, Thai Bodywork School of Thai Massage -- plus some fantastic bonus material, including:
- Over 12 hours of video demonstrations, lectures and Q&A on understanding and treating 25 muscles that contribute to shoulder pain.
- Footage shot on the table in which Chuck shows many relevant table techniques for shoulder work.
- The complete slide deck for the 20-hour weekend course taught at our studio.
- Additional references for the muscles involved in shoulder pain.
Students who complete the CTB Shoulder online course will receive a 50% discount when they register for our in-person CTB Shoulder course. The online course is an awesome resource that will prepare you for your in-person study with Chuck, and will allow you to get the most out of your time with us. NOTE: the online course does not substitute for hours in our in-person program if you are pursuing CTB certification, you still have to take the in-person course, but you may enroll at a 30% discount.
Shoulder pain is very common and often includes misdiagnosed complaints that lead to life upset, unnecessary surgeries and inappropriate treatments. Pain that is ascribed to a "torn rotator cuff" or frozen shoulder is very often a result of myofascial issues. Thai bodywork provides an excellent framework for resolving shoulder pain, but only if the student understands what muscles are commonly involved, where they harbor trigger points, and what techniques are most effective at dealing with each aspect of shoulder pain.
We describe the 23 muscles that are commonly involved in shoulder, upper back and arm pain, which muscles are most likely to be active contributors, where trigger points are to be found, and the best way to compress and stretch each area. We also cover perpetuating factors related to this area of the body, and how to not only resolve your clients’ pain issues, but how to teach them lifestyle changes and self-care techniques that will keep them out of trouble.
Clinical Thai Bodywork was developed by Chuck Duff to bridge the gulf between traditional Thai approaches and modern western clinical environments. The framework of CTB constitutes one of the most efficient and effective approaches available for orthopedic rehab, relief of chronic and acute pain, recovery from injury, and correction of myofascially derived dysfunction.
Attending In Person Trainings at Thai Bodywork
We want to encourage our online students to consider attending our in-person trainings in Evanston, IL, as there are great advantages to both forms of study. Online courses allow you to review and replay the information and take it in at a pace that you can manage. In-person trainings allow us to interact with you, tune your technique, answer questions and provide invaluable feedback from experienced teachers, assistants and other students.
Becoming proficient in CTB is a gradual process and the in-person component is very important. To receive the greatest benefit, students will ideally experience both online and in-person training. As an incentive, we're offering a 50% discount on enrollment to the in-person class equivalent of your online course. The converse is also true. If you have attended a course at Thai Bodywork, you are entitled to a 50% discount for the online version.
**Keep in mind, not all of our online classes have in-person equivalents (For example, CTB for Shoulder, Upper Back and Arm Pain is taught in person, but the CTB Shoulder Protocol course is ONLY online - the same goes for ALL Protocol courses).**
If you wish to take advantage of this offer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and they will assist you in getting your discount. Please see our Course Catalog page for a full listing of when our in-person trainings are offered throughout the year. CTB trainings typically are taught every 10-12 months.
