PLEASE NOTE: This course will be a synchronous (virtual) course. Students will need to have a body (friend or family member) available throughout the training to work with during practice sessions.
This course covers tools and techniques to support the client in achieving and maintaining full recovery from their pain condition. CTB analyzes not only the muscular relationships that cause pain, but also the functional patterns and perpetuating factors that will make the pain come back unless corrected.
Anatomical differences such as leg length discrepancy, hemi pelvis discrepancy, hyperpronation, muscle weakness and imbalance, nutritional factors and postural variations all can play a role in perpetuating pain. Unless corrected, these factors will eventually cause the pain to return.
We review the asymmetry assessments and provide an opportunity for students to complete checkout. We discuss in detail how to design corrections in a way that is appropriate for each client.
The principles of CTB are a profoundly useful guide not only for treatment, but for self care, yoga practice and corrective exercise as well. We show the use of the Mighty Body Band, Muscle Liberator, EPS and other tools to support the client in achieving and maintaining a full recovery.
CTB practitioners are trained to serve as a guide and coach throughout the treatment and rehab life cycle. We show examples of using CTB concepts and teaching clients to use tools, contract/relax and muscle knowledge during their rehabilitation work.
Along with the in-person course, you will receive an online course that will take you through the techniques you learned in class and will serve as a permanent resource.
This course is meant to be taken once students have had ample time to practice their assessments with clients after initial demonstration in CTB Fundamentals. As a CTBP Certification student, we request you take it once you're ready to be tested for you assessment skill. If you have completed CTB Fundamentals or CTB Fundamentals Online and wish to take this course, you may register.
"Rehab" trainings are taught by Chuck Duff who founded Thai Bodywork in 2001 and is a master instructor, and Doug Ringwald, a CTB Master Practitioner and assistant instructor. Upon successful completion, the student receives a 17-hour certificate. This course provides 17 NCBTMB CE hours.
