So many people struggle with sciatica and hip pain for years—with no help in sight. And that’s partly because even the most experienced practitioners (medical doctors and bodyworkers alike) have a fundamental misunderstanding of where chronic pain really comes from.
I had to start from the ground up to uncover the true sources of pain before I could be consistently successful at helping my clients. Now, I know how to do that – and over the last 15 years, I’ve helped hundreds of people with this painful, disruptive condition.
Now I know how to do that – and I’ve put all my hard-won secrets from the last 18 years into an affordable online course that will change the course of your career and give you the satisfaction of truly helping people.
Treating pain isn’t very difficult once you understand where it comes from. Unfortunately, the medical system and nearly all alternative practitioners are uninformed about the true origins of pain—which is why we have over 65,000 people a year dying of opiate overdose in the US. Pain is assumed by the medical establishment to always be a product of injury or disease, but this is just plain wrong.
I’m a trigger point therapist, and through 15 years of repeated study and clinical experience, I’ve found that the vast majority of pain comes from muscles that have developed trigger points.
I developed my own unique system for treating pain, by integrating techniques from Thai massage and other modalities with trigger point therapy and modern neuroscience. It really works, and now my mission is to teach others this revolutionary approach.
Trigger points, which are actually responsible for most pain, are small areas of stagnation in muscle tissue that develop in response to chronic or acute stresses on muscles. Unfortunately, most students are taught a version of trigger point therapy that is incomplete and not very effective—and that’s if they even learn it at all. I call my system Trigger Point 2.0 because I teach it very differently than you might have learned in massage school.
Trigger points are NOT injuries —but they commonly send pain to other areas in the body (pain referral) in a way that can feel like an injury. This phenomenon fools everyone—doctors, PTs, and most practitioners.
While the pain can be severe, trigger points are fairly easy to correct. The techniques aren’t difficult—what’s important is knowing which muscles to treat and in what order. Our system combines the insights of modern neuroscience with a new take on trigger point therapy, and the most effective techniques and tools for putting these ideas into practice.
If a client goes to the doctor with localized pain on the side of their hip, the doctor is very likely to tell them that they have “trochanteric bursitis.” Meaning that a sac over a bone in their hip became inflamed for some unknown reason. Somehow, their body just broke.
It seems obvious and tempting to blame the problem on the structures and “injuries” near the site of the pain – however, this is almost never the true cause. And it’s really a guess—the doctor isn’t going to cut your hip open to see if the bursa is actually inflamed (and that is a good thing).
Trochanteric bursitis is what Travell and Simons call a “garbage diagnosis.” Medical people don’t generally know that this type of pain is generally referred pain from a muscle, so by default they assume disease or injury at the site of the pain.
As CTB therapists, we know that the tensor fascia latae (TFL) muscle refers pain exactly to that area, and is generally what causes this pain. It’s an important little muscle, that often gets overloaded.
In the Core Sciatica and Hip Pain Protocol, we show you how to thoroughly treat the TFL, along with many other muscles that cause pain in this area.
Sciatica can be disabling, and many come to our clinic having suffered needlessly for years. The sad part is that we consider sciatica and hip pain to be among the easiest complaints to address. These cases won’t be scary or frustrating any longer when you’re armed with true understanding.
This brand-new online course incorporates our decades of clinical experience in treating sciatic pain using my Coaching The Body™ method. This knowledge will transform your practice and make these cases easy for you to resolve. How cool is that?
We’ve distilled out the most important muscles and the best sequence to treat them in. More importantly, you learn how to use our analysis method to understand and resolve your clients’ sciatic and hip pain at the source, not wasting your time on esoteric muscles that don’t often contribute, or chasing so-called injuries, joint dysfunction, etc. when these aren’t the issue.
If you don’t understand the role of satellite referral in this area, you will end up wasting a lot of time. Our protocols are built around satellite and functional relationships.
I’ve taught this approach to hundreds of students successfully at my school in Evanston, IL – and now all of my sciatica secrets are available to you in a convenient, online course – the cost of which you can recover in a session or two.

Your course has been designed by two respected teachers and practitioners with over 20 years of combined clinical experience helping clients with sciatic and hip pain.
Chuck left a lucrative (but soul-sucking) career in software development to pursue training in traditional Thai massage. He opened his first clinic, Thai Bodywork, in 2001, and quickly became frustrated with the lack of understanding in traditional methods for deep, long-term pain relief.
During his decades-long quest to understand the true nature of pain, he rediscovered the forgotten nuances of trigger point therapy, and realized he could integrate it with his training in Thai techniques. He developed Coaching The Body™ through years of research and clinical study, and has been teaching it since 2005.
Chuck's in-person and online teaching has now achieved international recognition as one of the most sophisticated and successful approaches in the world for treatment of pain and dysfunction.
Doug was a yoga instructor (and a musician, and a graphic designer, and a soccer player) with chronic back pain. As long as he was practicing yoga, he wasn’t in pain.
But he found himself unable to help his students with their chronic and severe pain. He felt frustrated by his lack of knowledge in functional anatomy and kinesiology.
Doug explored a myriad of learning opportunities—but after a life-changing experience with Thai Bodywork, he decided to enroll in Chuck Duff’s Level I training program. And we still can’t get rid of him.
Three years later, Doug quit his job in digital publishing to become a full-time therapist and teacher. He’s been teaching alongside Chuck since 2014, and he sees clients at his Aurora, Colorado clinic in addition to his training and curriculum development at CTBI.
