This course establishes the foundation of the CTB Lower Body Protocol, focusing on the key techniques that are used to work with muscles of the lower body. We emphasize the use of Handsfree-style techniques in this area of the body, because they are very efficient for the practitioner and also very effective therapeutic techniques for the client. The lower body is much more technique-intensive than the upper body, so we will focus on refining the techniques as we present the lower body protocol. Along with the in-person course, you will receive an online course that will take through the techniques learned in class and will serve as a permanent resource. Upon successful completion, the student receives a 17-hour certificate. This course provides 17 NCBTMB CE hours.

HandsFree Thai Bodywork Level 1 - In Person March 22-23, 2025
Evanston, IL (17 CEs)
This weekend course provides an introduction to the powerful HandsFree techniques of Chuck Duff's Coaching The Body® method. Students are taught to work from a place of meditative ease using leverage and body weight, a practice that cultivates maximum sensitivity to your client's body cues and avoids injury from overuse of forearm, shoulder and hand muscles. Variations using feet, legs and knees allow you as therapist to provide broad, deep pressure without endangering yourself. This is an excellent way for the practitioner to safely work with athletes and other clients who require deeper pressure without putting stress on themselves. As in all of our courses, we maintain a strong therapeutic focus in our teaching, guiding the student in how to work with specific issues of pain or dysfunction. We employ the principles of Coaching The Body® to understand common patterns of pain and its origins while using HandsFree techniques. Upon successful completion, the student receives a 17-hour certificate. This course provides 17 NCBTMB CE hours.

Coaching the Body Fundamentals - In Person Apr 26-27
Evanston, IL (17 CEs)
This course introduces the techniques and principals of Coaching The Body™ (CTB), a modality developed by Chuck Duff that blends the techniques of Thai yoga massage with the insights of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy, acupoint work and a structural analysis of body function. CTB is highly effective in reducing or eliminating patterns of pain and restriction, often in cases that have failed conventional medical treatment. CTB gives the student specific tools to assess and design effective treatments for the most common client complaints and can be integrated into a mat, chair or table-based practice. Coaching the Body was designed to bridge the gulf between traditional Thai approaches and modern western clinical environments. The framework of CTB constitutes one of the most efficient and effective approaches available for orthopedic rehab, relief of chronic and acute pain, recovery from injury, and correction of myofascially derived dysfunction.
Clinical Core for the Upper Body 1 - In Person May 17-18, 2024
Evanston, IL (17 CEs)
This course provides a full protocol for addressing the most common upper body complaints seen in clinical practice. There is a relatively small set of muscles and relationships that set up a high percentage of complaints. This course prepares to design and execute effective treatments for most of the upper body cases that you will see. Clinical Core trainings are taught by Chuck Duff who founded Thai Bodywork in 2001 and is a master instructor, and Josh Hoeks, a CTB Advanced Practitioner and assistant instructor.
