What is Myofascial Release?

A Proven Approach for Lasting Relief

Myofascial release is a therapeutic technique focused on relieving muscle tightness and pain through manipulation of the fascia. The fascia is a network of connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, organs, and other structures in the body. When the fascia becomes restricted, it can cause pain, limited movement, and other issues. Myofascial release techniques aim to release these restrictions, improving mobility and reducing pain.

By integrating modern neuroscience and movement principles, myofascial release offers a holistic solution to chronic pain. At Coaching The Body, myofascial release forms the cornerstone of our innovative pain treatment approach. With a foundation in manual therapy, Chuck Duff, a neuroscience enthusiast, developed a science-driven method to simplify myofascial release into effective techniques that can help eliminate pain.

Our unique CTB™ methodology combines myofascial release with advanced bodywork approaches, targeted vibration therapy, and neuro-hacking techniques. This comprehensive approach ensures that you can address pain from multiple angles, providing your clients with lasting relief. Experience the transformative power of our unique CTB™ methodology, which revolutionizes pain treatment through the integration of neuroscience and movement.

Advanced Bodywork Approach

Using movement, advanced myofascial release techniques, and distraction methods, our advanced bodywork approach addresses pain and tension in a comprehensive manner. By incorporating movement into myofascial release sessions, we ensure that the body remains flexible and functional, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the treatment. Distraction methods, such as targeted vibration therapy, help to interrupt pain signals and promote relaxation, further aiding in the release of myofascial restrictions.

Targeted Vibration Therapy

Utilizing precise therapeutic vibration for rapid relief with our Muscle Liberator™. Vibration therapy is a powerful tool that can enhance the effects of myofascial release by stimulating blood flow, reducing muscle tension, and promoting relaxation. Our Muscle Liberator™ device is designed to deliver targeted vibration to specific areas, helping to quickly alleviate pain and improve mobility. This technique can be particularly effective for treating stubborn or chronic pain conditions.

Neuro-Hacking Techniques

Enhancing recovery through neuroplasticity and distraction methods. Neuro-hacking techniques leverage the brain's ability to rewire itself in response to new experiences and stimuli. By incorporating these methods into myofascial release training, we help clients and practitioners tap into the body's natural healing processes. Distraction techniques, such as focusing on different sensations or movements, can help to break the cycle of pain and promote recovery.

Find The True Source Of Chronic Pain

Advanced analysis including functional relationships and satellite referral. Understanding the true source of pain is crucial for effective treatment. Our approach includes advanced analysis techniques that consider the functional relationships between different parts of the body and the potential for referred pain from satellite trigger points. This comprehensive analysis ensures that we address the root causes of pain, rather than just the symptoms.

How Does Myofascial Release Work?

Myofascial release addresses pain at its root.

By applying sustained pressure to the fascia, we can release restrictions and improve the flow of blood and lymphatic fluid, reducing pain and promoting healing. How does myofascial release work? Most pain originates from trigger points in the fascia, which can be efficiently eliminated by understanding their true origins and using the principles and techniques of Coaching The Body®.

Trigger points are hyper-irritable spots within the fascia that can cause pain, limited movement, and other issues. These points often develop as a result of injury, overuse, or stress. Myofascial release techniques involve applying gentle, sustained pressure to these points, allowing the fascia to stretch and release. This process can be enhanced by using tools such as myofascial release balls and other devices.

I’m only 8 weeks in to the CTB membership and it’s absolutely the best thing I’ve ever done for my business/life.

Sarah Cook.

Oddly enough, pain remains a mystery to much of the medical profession. The medical system often falls short in understanding and effectively treating pain, leading to a reliance on opiates and other temporary solutions.

When I began my journey as a Thai bodyworker and myofascial release therapist over 20 years ago, I quickly realized the limitations of traditional methods. Many clients came to me after other practitioners had failed to provide relief.

In 2002, I set out to develop a reliable system for treating pain through myofascial release. I spent years analyzing functional anatomy, movement exercises, and traditional techniques, reframing them with modern myofascial release principles.

Since teaching the first course in Coaching The Body® in 2005, I have continually refined our approach. Today, we effectively address a wide range of pain complaints with speed and efficiency by combining myofascial release knowledge, modern neuroscience, neuroplasticity concepts, and a variety of manual therapy and self-care techniques. It works.
